Venezia FC have parted ways with head coach Giovanni Stroppa following a disappointing start to their Serie A campaign, with six consecutive league defeats leaving the club under mounting pressure. The decision was announced on Tuesday morning after a 3-1 loss to Atalanta extended their miserable run. Stroppa had previously guided Venezia to promotion from Serie B, but his achievements were not enough to protect him from dismissal as results continued to deteriorate.

The club thanked Stroppa and his coaching staff for their dedication and professionalism during their time in charge. Despite their success in securing promotion, Venezia have struggled to adapt to the demands of top-flight football. Their recent performances have raised serious concerns about the team's ability to compete at this level, forcing the club's management to act in an attempt to reverse their declining fortunes.

Venezia's overall record has been particularly troubling, with just one victory in eight matches across all competitions. Their only success came in a 3-2 Coppa Italia win over Serie B side Modena, before they suffered another setback against Udinese in the following round. Defensive problems have been a major factor in their struggles, with 16 goals conceded in six league matches leaving them with one of the weakest defensive records in Serie A.

Attention has now turned to finding a suitable replacement for Stroppa, with Paolo Zanetti and Davide Nicola emerging as potential candidates. Both managers could bring valuable experience and a fresh approach to a squad in need of greater consistency. Venezia are expected to move quickly, as their upcoming home fixture against Napoli on October 17 presents an immediate test for whoever takes charge of the team.

Stroppa's departure also makes him the fourth managerial casualty of the season, following the dismissals of Fabio Grosso at Fiorentina, Domenico Tedesco at Bologna and Carlos Cuesta at Parma. Venezia now face a crucial period that could shape the direction of their entire campaign. Appointing the right successor will be essential if they hope to strengthen their defence, regain confidence and avoid becoming trapped in a prolonged relegation battle.
