AC Milan Target Gonçalo Inácio and Endrick in January to Boost Champions League Ambitions

AC Milan are reportedly preparing for a major January transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad and improve their chances of competing for the Champions League. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian club have identified Sporting CP defender Gonçalo Inácio and Real Madrid forward Endrick as potential additions. Although the winter window is still some time away, Milan’s management is already assessing its options ahead of the registration period beginning on December 28.

Unlike last season, when Milan brought in Niclas Füllkrug on loan, the club are expected to invest more substantially in the upcoming window. This approach follows a busy summer in which approximately €150 million was spent on new signings. RedBird Capital owner Gerry Cardinale reportedly wants to restore Milan to the top of European football, with winning silverware this season remaining a major objective.

Inácio has emerged as a leading defensive target after impressing at Sporting CP, where he has taken on greater leadership responsibilities. Milan reportedly made an offer worth more than €40 million towards the end of the summer transfer window, but the deal collapsed because Sporting were unable to secure a suitable replacement. The Portuguese defender subsequently extended his contract until 2030 and has remained a regular starter this season, making any potential move a challenging negotiation for Milan.

Despite his importance to Sporting, Inácio is reportedly open to a new challenge in Serie A. His left-footed profile and ability to operate in a three-man defence could make him an ideal fit for a system associated with coach Rúben Amorim, who helped develop the defender during their time together in Portugal. A reunion could strengthen Milan’s defensive structure and provide greater tactical flexibility as they pursue their ambitions in domestic and European competitions.

Endrick is another name on Milan’s January shortlist, although securing the Brazilian forward could prove complicated. Real Madrid are reportedly willing to consider a loan without a mandatory purchase option, potentially including a purchase clause and a costly buy-back arrangement similar to the structure used in Nico Paz’s move to Como. While the proposed deal would give Endrick an opportunity to gain valuable playing time, its financial and contractual conditions would require careful consideration. If Milan manage to advance negotiations for both players, the January window could become a decisive moment in their bid to return to the top of European football.
